Shop Press Kit
The do almost everything kit!
…you still will need either the ALT Drift or the ALT Extractor to remove blind bearings like in BSB configurations.
I keep getting asked for the “full system”, so here is my suggestion…
Foundation
Start with one of the Hub & Suspension Bearing Press Kits as a foundation. Although we’ll end up with both versions of the Sleeve and Drift RE, the aluminum HSBP-2 kit has an aluminum Step, Spacer Tube and Pilots. A good choice for durability.
Second Set of Drift RE
When working on BSB configuration hubs, some manufacturers recommend using a second Drift as the leverage piece when installing both bearings. For the first bearing, the Drift leverages from the opposite side of the part in the empty bearing bore. For the second bearing install, a second drift is used as leverage against the first installed bearing. So we’ll need a second set of Drift RE. And considering that you may also use the Drift RE to leverage the install of suspension bearings, we’ll choose the acetal version of the Drift RE Pack so that you have the option to leverage with a paint and carbon friendly acetal Drift RE.
Second Set of Sleeve
As with the second set of Drift RE above, the Sleeves are used to leverage the removal of bearings. When working on painted or carbon surfaces, a nice soft acetal Sleeve is your best choice, but only if you have a substantial and perpendicular surface to leverage against.
If the surface is perpendicular but not substantial, you’ll have to use the aluminum Sleeves, but ALWAYS be careful when leveraging small/thin surfaces because your manufacturer probably doesn’t recommend you do this. I DON’T recommend (or warrant) it either, but lots of you seem to want to do it.
If the surface is substantial but not perpendicular then you could try shaping the acetal sleeve to work, but be CAREFUL. This is also NOT recommended practice (because I can’t control it), but lots of people do it. Replacements will be available.
Over Axle Drifts
You’ll need all of the Over Axle Drifts to handle installation of bearings in over axle hubs.
Handle
Not necessary, but sweet!
BSB Configuration - NOT INCLUDED
You will still need a ALT Drift or ALT Extractor to remove the first bearing in a BSB configuration (Bearing, Spacer, Bearing) like hub, freehub or suspension.
The ALT Drift is available now, but the ALT Extractor is coming in a month.
The ALT Drift requires the bearing spacer to move off to the side a minimum 1mm. Works on bearings with inner diameter of 15, 17, 18, 20 & 25mm
The ALT Extractor doesn’t need the bearing spacer to move and works on bearings with inner diameter of 10, 12, 15, 17, 18, 20 & 25mm
