Hub & Suspension Bearing Press System
A bearing press is an essential tool when replacing bearings. Primarily designed to install bearings, they can also be used to remove a lot of bearing configurations, especially when used in conjunction with the new ALT Drift.
This system is designed for home mechanics who want an inexpensive tool to safely replace many different configurations of hub, freehub and suspension bearings. It’s designed to be versatile and inexpensive.
Versatility. I believe that a home mechanic should have the power to swap bearings on their bike, their families’ bikes and their next bike. The kit includes a bunch of parts in many sizes which you can use together to solve your bearing removal and install needs.
Inexpensive: It’s made inexpensive by designing simple parts made out of acetal which cost less to manufacture, do not have to be anodized and aren’t part marked. Also, everything else is pared down to only what is required to get the job done. A perfect fit for the home mechanic who appreciates a bare bones solution.

How To:
IMPORTANT: This system can be used in so many ways that use of this tool should be approached from a fundamentals perspective. It is important to understand what situations it can be used on and how to configure the right tool parts to achieve your goal.
Sold in Kits and Individual Parts
The system is sold in smaller kits because only a small shop would need the whole enchilada.
To buy the whole system:
Hub & Suspension Bearing Press (HSBP-1)
ALT Drift Kit (ALTD-1)
Over Axle Drift Pack (OAD-1)
Handle M8 (HM8-1)
Note: Over Axle Drifts can be purchased in single sizes instead of the whole pack (OAD-1)
Hub & Suspension Bearing Press Kit HSBP-1 (Acetal)
This is the main kit which contains most of what a home mechanic will need for removing and installing bearings in hubs, freehubs and suspension pivots …but not everything.
ALT Drift Kit
This kit works with the HSBP-1 main kit to remove the first bearing in a part with a bearing/spacer/bearing (BSB) configuration. This is something that normally requires a punch & hammer or a blind bearing puller.
The ALT Drift Kit is currently in beta testing and will be sold at an introductory price to get some real-world home mechanic testing. Only consider this kit if you’re willing to follow the instructions. And it would be nice to get some feedback!
Over Axle Drifts – Single Size
To press the second bearing in a hub with an axle, Over Axle Drifts are required. Most home mechanics will only need certain sizes, so these are sold in individual sizes. Two Over Axle Drifts per package, one long and one short.
Over Axle Drifts Pack
For the real enthusiast or startup shop, this pack contains all Over Axle Drift sizes.
Handle M8
This is handy handle works with the HSBP-1 main kit. Not necessary but hands down, pretty sweet.
Expansion Kit
For those who already purchased the Suspension Bearing Press.
Hub & Suspension Bearing Press Expansion HSBP-1X (Acetal)
The expansion kit includes all the parts to expand the previously sold Suspension Bearing Press into a HSBP-1, EXCEPT FOR THE STUD STOP. Some customers already have the Stud Stop.
Stud Stop
This extremely useful threaded Stop makes using the bearing press a pleasure. I always use it and consider it an essential part of the main kit. For the expansion kit, it’s sold separately in the case you are a customer who bought the OG Suspension Bearing Press and didn’t purchase it at the time. You can now. Or not. But you should. No pressure.
Acetal
Polyoxymethylene (POM), a.k.a. acetal, is an engineering thermoplastic that has high stiffness, excellent dimensional stability and the strength to remove suspension bearings. Because it’s thermoplastic, it won’t scratch your bike.
Acetal is not as strong as some other tool materials, so this tool needs to be fully supported by the frame around the bearing.
Acetal is also chemically resistant to everything except very strong acids and bases so it’s perfect for exposure to grease and cleaner.
